What are you working on?

Through my business, Jarvis Consultants, I have been working on some interesting, life contributing and changing projects.  I am thankful that my expertise and knowledge can provide consulting services to such a dynamic group of Jarvis Consultants clients.

Most of you know that I am a relationship builder. It is important for me to get to know the person representing the brand. Every relationship is different but they are all fundamentally built on the same foundation. It begins with listening and getting to know who the person/organization is and what they want to achieve. And, ultimately how they approach their business objectives; and, quite frankly, life.  I have written about relationship building in the past. Here is a blog on How are you building relationships? And, a timeless article on Getting Involved - 5 ways you can create something powerful through strong relationships.

Due to non-disclosure agreements I cannot share my clients’ names or profiles but here is a snapshot of some of the projects I have been working on:

Content Creation is one of my all-time favorite type of project that is exciting to develop.  It comes in many forms. Lately, I have been working on putting together c-level panels from different types of categories to share insights and foresight regarding his/her specific industry. Because of my ability to foster executive level relationships, this project has been fulfilling for both me and my clients.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) has many approaches and methodologies.  One way to ensure that organizations can have effective DEI programs is to ensure they have the right processes in place.  Specifically, I am working on a project where I help clients work through assessment and implementation of their DEI programs.  This is a really big undertaking where we identify gaps, address them and create action plans that rectify equitable representation, hiring and pay practices that will become part of the organization’s fabric – a very long and involved process.  DEI work is life-changing.  When an organization commits to taking a long look in the mirror and put in the hard work to make sustainable changes for the better of its people and the longevity of the organization, that is brave!

As a business coach, one of the ways I make an impact is that I specialize in helping women in the workforce negotiate compensation packages and navigate tricky organizational structures and/or issues to come out ahead.  In addition, I help them read the red flags before it is too late. I love the success that one of my clients just had in recognizing that she was being under-appreciated. Instead of guessing, I helped her recognize a pattern that was emerging; and, she was able to get ahead of the potential issue.  She addressed it and moved forward.

It is also important for me to continue to develop, learn and contribute. So, I make it a point to invest in myself.  One way that I am doing that is by investing  in my own  life coach. I always say a life coach needs a life coach; just like a therapist needs a therapist.  Life coaches help you evolve by taking an external and objective viewpoint; then helping me, in this case, self-reflect, course correct if needed and adapt.  This is an ever-evolving process but at certain periods in your life you need more than others.  Self-development is important to me; so, another way I invest in myself is by giving back to the community through volunteer projects.   I volunteer by offering services in areas of my expertise to organizations, whether it is marketing, strategy development or plain-old sweat equity. It is important to my well-being to know that I am giving back and showing my gratefulness.

I am working with both for profit and non-profit agencies in lending my expertise to content creation, DEI initiatives and business coaching.  I love that these are interesting, life contributing and changing projects.  If you have a project that you would like external support, please shoot me an email or give me a call and let’s talk.  I would love to know what you’re working on.
